Academy of Art University at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week
Academy of Art University in San Fransisco is on my list of fashion schools that I’m looking into transferring into. There are a lot of fashion schools out there but this is one might be the only one that shows its graduate students collections at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, and they’ve done it since 2005. When I found out I had to put it at the top of my list of schools. Can you think of better way to get exposure and make a splash on the fashion scene than at MBFW, because I can’t. That’s a sure-fire way to make sure your work is broadcast to the industry’s top execs. Academy of Art University is the nation’s largest accredited private art and design university. They have all kinds of fashion and art majors. Basically if you want to do anything creative with your life this is the place to go!Graduates have gone on to such companies as Abercrombie & Fitch, Adidas, Alexander McQueen, Azzedine Alaïa, Banana Republic, BCBGMAXAZRIAGROUP, Blanc de Chine, Burberry, Calvin Klein, Corso Como 10, Chloë, Diane Von Fürstenberg, Donna Karan, Gap, Kate Spade, Kiton, L.A.M.B., L’Ecole Lesage Paris – Atelier de Broderie, Liz Claiborne, Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs, Martin Margiela and many, many, MANY, more. Anyway, back to the fashion. This years group of graduates are super freaking talented! They definitely took some chances and thought outside of the box. The collections were modern and edgy, with splashes of structural and architectural aspects.
